East Yavne
The Israel Land Authority has invited us to plan a new neighborhood in the eastern areas of Yavne. Consisting of 12,000 housing units and 300,000 square meters for commerce and employment areas, this is significant planning work that will increase the city’s population and activity considerably.
Yavne located on a significant national transportation route – road no. 4, and bordered by two national tracks of the Israel railways, from the west and from the east. On one hand, this is a relative advantage and on the other hand, it constitutes an obstacle that limits the city’s development possibilities. The planning of the eastern railway interrupts the urban continuum and the possibility of utilizing the areas designated for the growth of the city to the east. The solution is provided by creating a new city center, which emphasizes the affinity and the connection to the existing urban fabric. The two parts of the city are to be connected at the ground level by a 380-meter-long platform covering the railroad and the regional road located at the lower level. This new city center will include a wide urban public square, office buildings, the train station, an integrated transportation center, public buildings, and assisted living residences. In this area, there is a wide variety of land usage serving both the residents of the new neighborhood and the existing residents of Yavne, and thus constitute a meeting point in the public domain.
The main street that stretches along with the neighborhood, incorporates commercial usage at the street level. The neighborhood parks and the comprehensive schools are located in the centers of the two parts of the new neighborhood. The neighborhood parks are connected via a network of pedestrian greenways and local parks, which connect to the municipal park and the northern promenade along the Sorek stream.
